Manager / Team Lead — AI Solutions
This role leads a small, high-impact engineering squad to design, build, and operate production AI solutions. You’ll be hands-on in code, contribute to setting technical direction, coach engineers, and engage directly with customers—from discovery to delivery.
Why AITP / Why this role
At AI Technology Partners (AITP), we empower enterprises to scale revenue & profit —with secure, compliant generative AI solutions.
This role leads a small, high-impact engineering squad to design, build, and operate production AI solutions. You’ll be hands-on in code, contribute to setting technical direction, coach engineers, and engage directly with customers—from discovery to delivery.
What you’ll do
Lead & Deliver
· Own outcomes for a small, cross-functional squad (4–8 AI and DevOps engineers)—plan, staff, and deliver projects with clear scope, milestones, and quality gates.
· Act as a player-coach: write code, review design/PRs, unblock execution, and raise the bar on engineering excellence.
· Drive iterative delivery (thin slices, fast feedback) and manage risk, dependencies, and trade-offs with clear communication.
Architecture & Engineering (AI Solutions)
· Architect end-to-end AI apps (APIs, orchestration, RAG, agents) with secure data access, structured outputs, and deterministic fallbacks.
· Help select and integrate frameworks (e.g., LangGraph/LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, Haystack), vector stores (Azure AI Search, pgvector, Pinecone, Weaviate), and model providers (Azure OpenAI and others).
· Collaboratively set coding standards, testing strategies, and design patterns that keep solutions maintainable and portable.
DevOps, Reliability & Security
· Embed IaC (Terraform/Bicep), CI/CD (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes/ACS), and observability (OpenTelemetry, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics).
· Champion security by design: least-privilege IAM (Entra ID), Key Vault, secrets and certificate rotation, SBOMs, image/dependency scanning (Snyk/Trivy), and policy-as-code.
· Define SLIs/SLOs, incident response practices, and post-incident learning to drive reliability.
Client Leadership & Stakeholder Management
· Participate in technical discovery, solution shaping, and executive-level communication with enterprise clients.
· Build trust through calm, confident, and respectful collaboration—navigate strong viewpoints, align stakeholders, and maintain momentum without ego.
· Support pre-sales: estimates, architectures, demos, and SOW inputs.
Talent, Culture & Team Dynamics
· Recruit, hire, and onboard top talent; create growth plans and run effective 1:1s with clear expectations and constructive feedback.
· Foster a low-ego, high-ownership culture with psychological safety and high standards.
· Promote knowledge sharing (design reviews, brown bags, playbooks) and internal re-use.
Open Source & Community
· Advocate an open-source-first approach where appropriate; evaluate licensing and compliance, contribute upstream, and cultivate internal OSS practices (templates, libs, examples, community engagement).
Requirements
Must-have
· 7+ years in software/platform engineering with both Dev and DevOps responsibilities; 2+ years leading small squads or “2-pizza” teams.
· Proven delivery of production LLM applications (RAG and/or agentic workflows), including security, observability, and cost/performance tuning.
· Strong with Python/TypeScript, APIs (FastAPI/Express), containers, Terraform/Bicep, GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps, and Kubernetes/AKS.
· Solid grounding in Azure (Entra ID, Key Vault, Private Link, Storage, Functions/Container Apps/AKS, Azure AI Services/Azure OpenAI).
· Demonstrated people leadership: hiring, coaching, performance management, and setting team rhythms.
· Excellent client-facing communication—direct, thoughtful, and solutions-oriented.
Nice to have
· Cross-cloud experience (AWS/GCP), enterprise connectors (SharePoint/OneDrive, ServiceNow, Salesforce), and private connectivity (ExpressRoute).
· Experience with eval/trace stacks (Langfuse, promptfoo, DeepEval), and analytics for task success, grounding, and cost.
· Background in regulated environments (ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, HIPAA, GDPR) and audit evidence automation.
How we work
· Ownership & autonomy: You’ll make architectural calls and own delivery.
· Bias to action: Ship in small increments; measure and improve.
· Security by default: Controls and guardrails are built-in.
· AI as leverage: Use LLMs to accelerate engineering, documentation, and ops—not as theater.
Compensation
· Competitive salary or hourly rate, commensurate with experience and engagement model. (We’ll discuss ranges early in the process.)
What we offer
· Challenging work building real, production AI systems for enterprise clients.
· Learning & sharing culture with deep dives, mentorship, and support for certifications/contributions.
· Inclusive, flexible workplace—bring your whole self; work where you do your best thinking.
